Collection includes: Newspapers and magazine articles (1982-1985) published throughout Oregon describing the activities of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and his followers in Oregon; scrapbooks (1981-1984) containing newspaper articles; Rajneeshpuram publications (n.d.) advertising Rajneesh services and products; informal notices and fliers originating primarily in Wasco County, and the city of Antelope; and citizen newsletters (1983-1984) responding to the perceived threat of the Rajneesh commune. The collection chronicles the history of the Rajneesh commune in Oregon, including legal activities and Oregon citizen reaction. It also documents the Rajneesh commune as presented to the public and through the media, containing limited information concerning Rajneesh beliefs and practices.
